About this work
Wind and Crepe Myrtle Concerto 1973 uses short painted strokes arranged in loose bands across the sheet. Alma Woodsey Thomas built this kind of work from repeated colour dabs, and the title points to a garden concert heard through colour. The image stays open with bands of hue moving side to side.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the colour bands soft so the light stays even on the wall.
It works on a hallway wall where the day starts. From the first step you see the bands of colour move, and near the door the small strokes read one by one.
