Witoto — Fine Art

Witoto - 1970 turns a portrait of a person into flat colour blocks. The face reads as a few dark planes against a warm ground.

Omar Rayo built this in his geometric play period, where a body becomes a set of simple shapes. The fine art print keeps those flats clear on a matte sheet, so the colours stay even and the edges do not blur.

A dark frame on a pale wall in a bedroom lets the blocks sit plain. From the foot of the bed you notice the flat nose first, then the rest of the picture.
