The Light in the Depths — Fine Art

The Light in the Depths shows a pale field of colour with thin marks drawn across it. The marks sit near the lower part of the surface and pull the eye downward. Alice Baber painted in watercolour and worked with washed colour and fine lines drawn by hand.

The print uses a matte fine art surface so the thin marks stay clean and the pale tones do not reflect glare. A light frame on a dark wall lets the lower marks stay visible.

On a hallway wall with warm light from a side lamp, the thin marks stay clear at a short distance. You see the washed colour spread across the surface and the lines gather near the bottom edge.
