About this work
Topologema 2-1 - 1972 shows a field of shallow marks pressed into the surface. Enrico Castellani sets the eye on the first band of relief before the rest of the sheet.
The marks form a regular rhythm across the plain ground. A fine art print in a frame with a back panel holds the image. The smooth paper keeps the pressed shapes even under lamp light.
The frame adds a clean edge around the picture. In a study on the far wall the bands step forward in the light. You read the shallow relief before the flat field behind it.
