About this work
Composition - 1946 reads as a set of broad painted areas set against a quieter ground. The eye moves from one flat colour block to the next. The marks stay rough at the edges, a cubist approach in paint. Pablo Picasso often built pictures this way, with colour as the main structure.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so the picture goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed. The paper is matte, so the painted areas stay flat and do not throw a shine under a lamp.
It works on a long kitchen wall over a counter. From the table you see the big colour blocks. From the doorway you see the whole sheet.
