Speck — Fine Art

A small dark mark sits near the center of a wide white field in Speck. The shape reads like a single dot or short line, leaving most of the paper empty. The painting follows the abstract practice of Sam Francis, where open space and a few painted forms share the surface.

The fine art print uses a matte paper that keeps the white field from shining under a lamp. A light frame sits on a dark wall, or a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The frame finish can follow the room.

It hangs on the wall in the kitchen, set back from the table so you see the mark first and the empty field next. Morning light moves across the surface as the day goes on.
