About this work
Untitled Abstract - 1962 reads as a quiet arrangement of painted fields and hard lines. The black shapes sit against a pale background and the paint stays flat on the surface. You notice the marks more when you stand near the wall. Alexander Liberman worked in colour and collage throughout his career.
The print comes as a fine art print in a white frame or a wood frame. The frame gives the picture a firm edge on the wall and the white line keeps the painted field separated from the room. The matte paper holds the soft greys without shine.
On a hallway wall the broad grey shapes read as a calm passage between doors. From the far end of the hall you see the black bands as clean lines. Up close the paper shows its even surface.
