Untitled SF57-008

A wide open field of paint sits across the sheet with thin bands of colour spread over it. Untitled SF57-008 shows open washes that leave the paper showing through the gaps. Sam Francis worked with thin layers of acrylic and oil to let the colour breathe across the surface.

The piece arrives as a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. When you choose the ready to hang option it comes assembled, so the flat panels of paint read without a glass reflection catching the light.

It hangs on the long dining room wall where you see the open colour band first, and then the small gaps in the wash when you stand closer.
