About this work
A colour band moves from yellow on the left toward violet on the right. Francois Morellet set those two tones against each other in the picture from 1956. The hue shifts without hard edges, so the change reads as a slow step rather than a sharp line.
The object is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. You can order it with the ready to hang option so it arrives assembled. The flat surface keeps the yellow and violet even, since the frame holds the sheet flat against the wall.
Hang it above a desk in a reading corner. You see the yellow on the left first, then the violet takes over as you turn the page. The back panel gives a clean edge where the picture ends.
