About this work
Flannel flowers and gum leaves - 1928 shows small white flower heads and long green gum leaves. Grace Cossington Smith painted the shapes with soft brushwork and a light hand. The marks sit close to one another on the sheet.
The fine art print keeps those pale tones without shine. A light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture all work with this picture. The matte paper lets the green leaves read as quiet forms.
It fits above a kitchen bench where the morning light falls sideways. From the doorway you see the white flower heads first, then the leaf shapes lower down. The print stays flat against the wall and does not draw the eye away from the room.
