Untitled I — Fine Art

Untitled I - 1997 shows a painted field with wide bands of tone laid across the sheet. The colour moves from one side to the other without sharp breaks.

Gunther Forg built these broad painted areas into many works, so the picture belongs to that steady way of working. The paper in this fine art print is matte, which keeps the greys and pale tones sitting softly on the sheet.

A frame with a back panel holds the print ready to hang. You notice the broad painted fields most clearly from the far end of a dining room, while the small changes in tone come into view from the table.
