Rain

Rain - 1989 sits on the wall as a coloured field with soft edges and a few darker strokes. The work comes from the colour field painting practice of Howard Hodgkin, where broad painted areas carry the picture. You see the rain in the way the tones shift across the surface.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the print flat and the back panel keeps it ready to hang. The matte surface lets the colours stay even under a lamp.

It fits above the door in a hallway. From the landing you take in the whole shape, and from the desk nearby the painted edges read as a steady band of tone.
