Sunset — Fine Art

The print shows Sunset - 1922 with quick strokes of blue and orange spread across the sheet. The paint runs in thin washes and a few heavy dark marks. This follows the watercolour and etching practice of John Marin, with the same loose way he worked on city views and coastal scenes.

The fine art print uses a matte paper that holds the soft colour edges without a shine. A light frame suits a dark wall, and a dark frame works on a pale wall. You can also choose a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It hangs on the stairwell wall where the afternoon light fades through the glass. From the landing you see the broad colour bands clearly, and from the bottom step the smaller strokes come into view.
