Karl Benjamin works with flat colour planes and hard edges in his abstract paintings from the California movement. This print shows those same broad painted bands meeting at clean lines across the sheet. The colour sits in layered fields rather than soft washes.

The fine art frame can follow the room. A light frame sits on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. That lets the broad painted bands read plainly against the wall behind it.

It fits a kitchen wall near the sink, where the hard colour edges catch the morning light. From the table you notice the flat colour planes and the clean line between each band. The dated number at the top reads as part of the surface.
