About this work
Buildings - 1930 by Charles Demuth shows three tall building fronts stacked in a quiet street view. The picture uses thin painted lines and pale colour planes to hold the forms. Precisionist practice shows in the flat planes and steady outlines.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame gives the print a clean border on the wall. The wood frame warms the pale tones. The dark wood frame adds weight to the straight lines. The black frame sets a strong edge against the painted shapes.
In a study, the print hangs on the wall beside a desk. From the doorway you notice the building tops first. Closer you see the thin painted lines that hold each plane.
