Firebox

Firebox - 1964 uses painted bands of colour that move side to side across the sheet. The stripes step in hue from one band to the next. Gene Davis made this colour band painting with flat colour stripes.

This fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the colour bands soft and there is no shine under a lamp. You get a ready to hang picture when the assembled option is used.

It fits a kitchen wall near the sink. From the counter you see the steady rhythm of the bands. The colours step in a plain line across the sheet.
