No. 19

Two large rectangles of colour sit on the sheet for No. 19 - 1949. The upper field carries a warm reddish tone, and the lower field is a darker shade. The eye enters at the top edge and rests on the slow shift between the two blocks.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the colour bands flat, so the boundary between the two fields does not shine under a lamp.

It fits a narrow stairwell with a single bulb overhead. From the landing you read the red upper field first, and from two steps below the darker lower block fills the view. The metal hanger takes the weight without any extra fitting.
