Untitled — Fine Art

Untitled - 1964 sets bands of paint in a steady row across the sheet. The stripes hold one colour each and move in one direction. Gene Davis painted the lines with a hard edge, so each band ends clean.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. The metal hanger on the back fits straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need a frame. The print goes up on the wall in one step.

The plain surface keeps the bands sharp. In a reading corner the stripes lead the eye along the shelf. The steady marks stay clear from a chair three feet away.
