Untitled — Fine Art

Untitled - 1970 by Donald Judd uses flat bands of color set against a plain ground. The picture belongs to the minimalist art movement, where simple shapes carry the whole image. Each band runs straight across the sheet without any soft changes.

The fine art print sits inside a frame with a white, wood, dark wood or black finish. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall.

In a reading corner the bands catch the lamp light and stay even across the picture. You notice the straight edges first, then the color shifts between each band. Over a desk the image stays steady and does not draw attention away from the work on the page.
