About this work
Vertical washes of blue and grey slide down the paper in Phenomena Day of Zagorsk. Soft edges where one tone meets the next show a slow pour of paint. A faint pencil line near the top marks one edge of the wet colour. The artist Paul Jenkins built these bands by tilting the sheet while the paint was still wet.
This fine art print sits inside a frame with a back panel ready to hang. The matte paper keeps the pale bands flat and stops the blue from looking glossy under a lamp. The frame and panel hold the print straight on the wall without extra hardware.
It fits a narrow wall beside a reading chair in a bedroom. From the bed you see the blue bands first, then the pencil line when you sit down with a book.
