A-Walnut Stain — Fine Art

A-Walnut Stain - 2004 by Pierre Soulages carries dark brown lines against a very light paper tone. The marks cross the sheet with a steady pressure. The surface keeps a low shine so the brown tones stay separate from the pale ground.

This fine art print has a matte finish and a plain wood frame. The frame finish can follow the room, with a light frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall. The matte surface keeps the dark lines from reflecting under a lamp.

It hangs on a study wall above a desk, a little above the chair back. From the desk you see the dark brown lines, from the doorway you notice the light paper tone.
