About this work
Hanging Gardens of Hammersmith No 2 1949 sets a soft abstract field against a timber walkway. The surface holds light washes and pale drawn lines, the kind of work Victor Pasmore made when he moved into abstract construction. A white frame gives the image a clean edge on the wall.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame keeps the pale tones even and stops the edges from fading into the wall. You see the drawn lines more clearly at the sides.
On a narrow landing wall the grey washes read as distance. From the bottom stair you notice the drawn lines cut across the open ground.
