Carlos Almaraz was a Mexican-American painter and central figure of the East Los Angeles Chicano art movement, known for his vivid, expressionistic scenes of car crashes, Los Angeles nights, and the California landscape. His bold colour and emotional intensity made him one of the most vital voices of Latino art.
