Abstraction — Fine Art

Abstraction - Post-Painterly Abstraction by Robert Goodnough shows painted areas beside thin drawn lines. The shapes sit on a plain ground. Colours stay flat and edges stay sharp.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. From a short distance the marks feel personal. The layout reads as open space with a few hard lines. You notice the paper grain first, then the painted edges. The work feels steady rather than busy.

Post painterly abstraction is the movement behind it. The frame finish follows the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The matte paper keeps the greys and whites even on a lit wall.
