Alkahest 2009 — Fine Art

Alkahest 2009 by Anselm Kiefer uses thick paint and ash to build a rough surface over a dark ground. The work belongs to the artist practice of mixing material and memory. The printed image keeps those heavy layers readable as a flat surface.

The fine art frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A dark wood frame edge sets the painted layers against the wall without softening the heavy marks.

It suits a study wall near a desk. From the chair you see the dark ground and the raised paint. The room stays plain and the picture holds the space.
