About this work
Angle Study Large Trademark 1962 builds from a strict arrangement of black lines on a white field. The marks lean and cross, forming a set of sharp angles that read as a trademark mark.
Edward Ruscha leaves the shapes plain and lets the white show through. From the far end of the hall the black lines hold together as one block.
Near the wall the pencil edges show as separate strokes. You can hang this fine art print with the metal hanger already fitted to the back, so it goes straight onto a nail or screw. It works on the narrow wall beside the study door, where the angled lines catch the desk lamp at night and the white field stays clear.
