Based on Leaf Forms and Spaces — Fine Art

Leaf forms and spaces sit together in Based on Leaf Forms and Spaces - 1912. The shapes feel like pressed leaves turned into simple outlines and soft fields of color. They do not copy a plant, they echo one. Arthur Dove worked with natural shapes and reduced them to flat forms.

This fine art print comes set in a frame with a back panel, so the picture is ready to hang on the wall. The paper stays matte, which lets the flat color fields read without shine.

On a bedroom wall, the leaf shapes sit above the bed. From the doorway the big forms read first, and the small color shifts come later as you pass by.
