Before Songs

Before Songs by Alice Baber shows paint laid in bands across the sheet. The strokes arrive one after another, each band slightly different from the one before. Alice Baber worked with colour bands and open space. The marks move across the surface with a steady hand.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. The frame finish can match the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. On this print the paper keeps the bands readable without gloss.

It hangs on a quiet wall above a long sofa. You stand a few steps back and see the bands line up across the sheet. Up close the edges of each band show the pressure of the brush.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes — this Fine Art piece comes framed and arrives ready to hang. It is printed with our 12-color fine art technology on smooth matte paper (200 gsm), protected by shatterproof plexiglass, and set in a durable pine wood frame. A hanging kit is included, so you can put it straight on the wall.

Our 12-color fine art printing technology delivers vivid, accurate colors with real depth, far beyond standard 4-color inkjet printing. The print is on smooth matte paper (200 gsm, 0.26 mm thick) that gives a clean, glare-free display, and it sits behind shatterproof plexiglass in a durable pine wood frame (20 mm thick, 10 to 14 mm wide). The paper and wood are FSC-certified. Every piece is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and every order is fresh.

As a guide: 40×50 cm suits a desk or small wall, 50×70 cm sits well above a sofa or bed, and 70×100 cm anchors a room as a focal piece. If you'd like advice for your space, send us your dimensions and we'll recommend a size.
