Black — Fine Art

Black by Ellsworth Kelly shows a single dark shape laid on a lighter field. Most often the dark area is pure black and the other side stays light. The edge between them stays sharp and even.

Up close you see the flat colour and the clean border. Across the room the shape reads as one solid mass with a clear division. The fine art print sits inside a frame with a back panel. The paper stays matte so the dark tone does not shine.

You see the hard colour block without glare under a lamp. It fits over a long sofa on a plain wall. From the doorway the dark field holds the view. From the sofa you notice the straight edge and the quiet split.
