Black Forms — Fine Art

Black Forms by Ellsworth Kelly holds steady blocks of black against open space. The eye lands on the solid black parts first, then rests on the bare areas around them. The shapes do not crowd the picture. Each form keeps its own room.

A fine art print on matte paper keeps the black tones even, with no shine under a lamp. A light or dark frame can match the wall behind it, so the surface stays clear and the edges read plainly.

On a dining room wall, the black shapes stay put when you walk past to the table. From the kitchen doorway you see the solid parts against the lighter parts, and the quiet space between them.
