Blanc — Fine Art

Blanc - 1974 shows a broken field of spread paint in soft white and grey tones. The work belongs to the European art informel movement, where paint builds up in layers and the ground stays open.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. The artist works with thin paper and a rolled or spread layer of pigment that gathers at edges. A white frame gives the picture a clean line on the wall, and the plain edge keeps the grey tones from drifting into the room.

You can see the paint build up where the layer stops. On a kitchen wall the shapes read as a soft band across the painted plaster, and from the table you notice the small build up of pigment.
