About this work
Blue Form in a Scene, 1961- uses a large blue shape set against a wash of softer colour on the sheet. The blue area reads across the room as a single block, while up close you see thin edges where the paint thins out.
Helen Frankenthaler worked with poured and stained paint, and this print keeps that look of colour sinking into the surface. The fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel and arrives assembled when the ready to hang option is used.
A matte surface keeps the blue flat and stops glare from a ceiling light. On a pale wall at eye height, the blue shape holds its shape from across the room and the washed ground stays quiet behind it.
