Blue Nudes — Fine Art

Blue Nudes by Henri Matisse shows bodies painted in flat blue against a plain background. The limbs sit at different angles, so the eye moves from one form to the next. Empty space around the figures keeps the page quiet.

The print is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. A matte surface keeps the blue from looking shiny and the small differences between the tones stay easy to see.

It works above a low bookshelf. From across the room the blue shapes read as simple blocks of colour. Up close you see the edges where one form ends and the next begins.
