Book of Time — Fine Art

Book of Time - 1961 shows a sequence of thin forms running across the sheet, built from repeated marks that step in tone. You can read the whole row from the foot of the stairs, then notice each cut changes by a little as you stand nearer.

The objects are paired cuts that open small dark lines into a pale ground. The work belongs to the practice of Lygia Pape, where cuts and folds often carry the picture.
