About this work
The Boston Tea Party - 1975 shows a loose scene with dark shapes and bright flashes against a plain ground. Nicholas Krushenick often worked in a hard edge painting style, using flat colour blocks and quick marks. The print keeps that look: the colours sit flat and the edges stay simple.
A fine art print carries the image on matte paper, so the dark tones do not shine and the bright spots stay clear. The frame follows the room, with a dark finish beside pale furniture or a wood finish near wooden tables.
It hangs on a kitchen wall near the window, where morning light lands on the top half. From the table you see the bright colour first, then the simple shape below it.
