Broadway — Fine Art

Broadway by Ellsworth Kelly places a hard band of bright color on a plain ground. The band runs across the sheet with a straight edge on both sides. It sits inside the hard edge painting practice of the post war abstract years.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The frame in white, wood, dark wood or black sets a clean line around the color. That edge keeps the band from fading into the wall. You see the sharp line first, then the flat color inside.

A long hallway gets the picture above eye level. From the far end the band reads as one stripe. Up close the flat surface holds its tone without shine.
