Bronze Smoke - 1978 by Helen Frankenthaler puts a wash of warm tone across the sheet with softer areas fading behind it. The paint spreads in uneven bands, and the edges stay loose where the brush moved slowly.

At a distance the colour reads as one broad shape. Up close you can see where the pigment thinned out and left a lighter path.
