About this work
Brushstroke Chair and Ottoman 1988 shows a chair and footrest drawn with bold brushstroke marks. The shapes sit on a plain ground, built from quick painted strokes. The style borrows from comic book printing and uses flat colour areas. Roy Lichtenstein made this kind of work across his career.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. A white frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. The clean edge keeps the painted strokes from running off the sheet. The finish sits close to the image so the bold marks stay readable.
A hallway wall works well for this print. From the bend in the corridor you notice the heavy stroke shapes first. Step closer and the flat colour blocks take over the view.
