Caged Pheasant #2

Caged Pheasant 2 shows a dark bird standing inside a wire cage against a plain ground. The bird fills most of the frame, with the cage bars drawn across it in thin black strokes. Allan Kaprow made this image as a study of confinement and movement.

This fine art print uses a light frame that can match the room. Try a white frame on a dark wall so the cage lines stay clear, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The matte paper keeps the grey tones even and stops shine from a ceiling light.

Hang it on a narrow hallway wall between two doors. From the landing you see the bird first, then the bars. Step closer and the pencil marks show up around the cage.
