About this work
Cell Choisy 1993 places a screened enclosure at the center of the sheet. Wire mesh and soft fabric fill the frame, with a few marks left by the hand. The subject recalls the cells Louise Bourgeois built as places to hold memory and tension. Constructed fabric and metal give the image its shape.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang. A metal hanger is fitted to the back and goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need a separate frame. The print sits flat against the wall without a frame around it.
It fits a hallway wall near the top of the stairs. From the landing you notice the grid of the mesh first, then the fabric folds. In the evening light the white ground stays soft and the dark mesh reads clearly.
