Christmas Tree — Fine Art

Christmas Tree - 1956 by Gene Davis shows a stack of painted bands that step through green and red tones. The bands run from top to bottom and leave some open areas between them. The shapes read like a tree silhouette when you look from a doorway rather than up close.

A light frame on a dark wall lets the green bands show without glare. The finish follows the room so the picture sits plainly on the surface. The fine art print keeps the soft colour steps as they are.

It works on the stairwell landing where the bands catch the hall light at a mid height. From the bottom step you see the red tones most clearly and the green tones stay quieter.
