Composition - 1958 by Enrico Castellani presents a quiet arrangement of tone on a flat ground. The surface holds even colour and measured marks that belong to postwar abstraction practice. You see broad areas of paint laid down with steady control.

The white frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. That frame edge sits against the flat ground and keeps the shapes from running off the paper. The fine art paper carries the paint without gloss, so the greys stay soft under a lamp.
