Composition No. 1 — Fine Art

Composition No. 1 sets bold colour patches against a flat ground. Warm orange and cool blue push against each other across the surface. The paint sits in thick layers, built up in distinct blocks. Hans Hofmann used this push and pull method to make colour feel active.
