Composition No.10 — Fine Art

Composition No.10 by Piet Mondrian sets black lines against a pale ground. The lines meet at right angles and make uneven rectangles. Some blocks stay white, others take a little red or blue. The shapes look steady, almost like a plan for a building. The artist worked in a style called neoplasticism.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The flat colour blocks stay clean, and the black lines keep their sharp edges. The light ground does not pick up glare from a lamp.

In a narrow study, the black grid breaks up the wall beside a desk. From the doorway you notice the white rectangles first. Standing a few feet away, the small blue block catches the eye.
