Dark and Fast — Fine Art

Dark and Fast shows quick black strokes cutting across a pale ground. The paint moves fast, with sharp ends and thin lines where the brush lifted. Sam Francis used open colour and bold gestures in his work. This fine art print keeps the pressure and speed of each mark clear.

The paper has a matte finish, so the black lines stay flat and do not shine under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the pale field stand out without extra colour around it.

It fits on the wall beside a wooden desk in a study. From the doorway you see the black strokes first, then the small breaks in the paint as you step closer. The room stays calm because the picture uses only a few tones.
