About this work
Development 1926 shows a field of black lines and small coloured patches laid over a pale ground. The lines run in different directions and the patches sit at separate spots across the sheet.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. Wassily Kandinsky built this kind of picture with hand drawn marks and flat colour areas, a practice tied to the abstract painting movement of the early twentieth century. The paper is matte, so the light greys stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp.
A light frame on a dark wall lets the pale field hold its own, while a dark frame on a pale wall makes the black lines read more clearly.
