Die Kontraste — Fine Art

Die Kontraste - Abstract Art sets strong contrasting shapes on the sheet, with one tone sitting opposite another to make each stand apart. The picture reads as a study of contrast, built from flat colour areas and clear divisions. Johannes Itten worked in this way, arranging tones so each one changes the next.

The fine art print sits inside a frame in white, wood, dark wood or black. That frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall, so the contrasting shapes stay separate from the room around them.

On a kitchen wall, the big colour blocks are clear from the table, and the small shifts between tones show when you stand by the sink. Johannes Itten keeps the eye moving from one shape to the next.
