About this work
The coloured rectangles stack across the page in Farbspiele - 1952. A few edges meet and the blocks shift in place. You can see the repeat of shape and the difference in each block. Ernst Wilhelm Nay worked with colour bands in this period, building the picture from side by side fields.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the colours even and the edges of the bands stay soft. You get the print and the frame together, ready to hang when you choose that option.
The picture sits above a fireplace in a hallway. The bright blocks stand out against the darker floor and the wall beside the stairs. You pass it while carrying a cup of coffee and notice the hard edges first.
