Figure by Richard Pousette-Dart — Fine Art

A human figure appears in Figure, shaped by layered marks and soft washes. Richard Pousette-Dart worked in paint and mixed materials, building form through repeated strokes and transparent layers. The image reads as a figure held in a field of colour and line.

The fine art paper keeps the greys and earth tones even, so the lighter passages stay quiet under indoor light. A light frame on a dark wall lets those soft tones stand apart, while a dark frame on a pale wall adds weight to the figure.

On a bedroom wall at shoulder height, the figure sits against the room lighting. From the bed you see the broad strokes, and from the side you notice the thinner lines crossing the field.
