About this work
First Abstract Watercolor 1910 by Wassily Kandinsky shows soft washes of colour laid over a quiet field. A few thin lines and small colour spots drift across the page. The marks do not form a clear subject, so the eye moves from one shape to the next.
This fine art print is set in a frame with a back panel. The paper is matte, so the pale washes stay flat and the small marks stay sharp. When the ready to hang option is used, the print arrives assembled and ready to place.
It sits on a study wall above a desk where a lamp throws a warm light across the page. From that angle the soft colour bands read first, and the thin lines gain weight as you turn toward the sheet.
